Abundance is a coral reef-like installation exhibiting the work of WARP – The Woodstock Art Reef Project, Cape Town. WARP is a community art project with an environmental focus on the survival of coral reefs. WARP participants crocheted the individual coral art works using hyperbolic crochet.
WARP, Cape Town is a satellite of the world wide Crochet Coral Project created by Margaret and Christine Wertheim of the Institute For Figuring in Los Angeles. WARP was initiated at Greatmore Studios, Woodstock in response to a TED Talk “The Beautiful Math of Coral” by Margaret Wertheim.
This walk-in installation was on show at the Mogalakwena Art Craft Gallery in Church Street Cape Town in the summer of 2012 -2013 and was curated by Maria van Gass.
